Danny Gaddy and Jane Templeton MerrittNew Games for Gifted Students
Join Danny Gaddy and Janie Templeton Merritt on Friday morning for an interactive session on using New Games in your classroom. New Games incorporates an extensive set of activities designed to teach communication, cooperation and trust while promoting teamwork, problem solving and thinking skills. At the heart of New Games is a positive caring learning environment. The activities are exciting, effective and just plain fun. For 10 years, the New Games activities have been a favorite of the children participating in Project Explore, an enrichment program for elementary students. New Games have helped classes of students, teams of children, and faculties of entire schools to improve the way they work together and the way they communicate with each other. Danny Gaddy has been an educator for over 30 years. He has taught gifted students at all grade levels in the Hamilton County School system. His favorite instructional approach is to involve students in hands on experiential learning. Danny teaches graduate courses in education at a local university and conducts workshops in group dynamics. For about 20 years, he has used New Games to work with all age groups from kindergarten to adult. Janie Templeton Merritt is a teacher with over 30 years of experience. She has worked with Project Explore for over 10 years teaching New Games. Her current teaching assignment is Teacher for the Gifted at The Center for Creative Arts, a Hamilton County magnet school for performing arts, grades six through twelve. Janie has been a facilitator at the Academy for the Teachers of Gifted in Tennessee at Middle Tennessee State University for the past four years. |
